Why should kids develop healthy eating habits?

Question by Lady Able: Why should kids develop healthy eating habits?
I’m creating a flyer on why kids should eat healthy foods. I need at least a paragraph or a few sentences on why kids should develop healthy eating habits.

OR

You can give me an idea on what to write. I want to make it short sweet and to the point that encourages other kids to follow this flyer.

Best answer:

Answer by hii
because it educates them better for when they are an adult/senior.
once kids grow up to be adults their bodies will change, their metabolisms will slow down. and need a proper diet for their bodies and organs to function properly

if they never learn how to eat healthy when they are young, they grow up to be unhealthy adults with a lot of medical complications

Latest Spiritual Pendulum News

Amerikan Psyche
spiritual pendulum

"Nowadays, particularly, the world hangs by a thin thread, and that thread is the psyche of man…We are the great danger. The psyche is the great danger. What if something goes wrong with the psyche? And do it is demonstrated in our day what the power of the psyche is, how important it is to know something about it. But we know nothing."

"It is a fact that cannot be denied: the wickedness of others becomes our own wickedness because it kindles something evil in our own hearts…"

"Giving laws, wanting improvements, making things easier, has all become wrong and evil. May each one seek out his own way, the way leads to mutual love in community. Men will come to see and feel the similarity and communality of their ways."

"We have not understood yet that the discovery of the unconscious means an enormous spiritual task, which must be accomplished if we wish to preserve our civilization."

"The European has become so far removed from his roots that his mind was finally split into faith and knowledge, in the same way that every psychological exaggeration breaks up into its inherent opposites.

His task is to find the natural man again. Instead of this, there is nothing he likes better than systems and methods by which he can repress the natural man who is everywhere at cross purposes with him."

"What is unique about our current situation is not that present-day man is capable of greater evil than the man of antiquity or the primitive. He merely has incomparably more effective means with which to realize his propensity to evil. As his consciousness has broadened and differentiated, so his moral nature has lagged behind. That is the great problem before us today: Reason alone no longer suffices.”

"In the exploration of the unconscious we come upon very strange things, from which a rationalist turns away with horror, claiming afterward that he did not see anything.

The irrational fullness of life has taught me never to discard anything, even when it goes against all our theories."

"If people can be educated to see the lowly side of their own natures, it may be hoped that they will also learn to understand and to love their fellow men better.
A little less hypocrisy and a little more tolerance towards oneself can only have good results in respect for our neighbor; for we are all too prone to transfer to our fellows the injustice and violence we inflict upon our own natures."

"We constantly overestimate the existing content of consciousness, and it is a great and surprising discovery when we find that what we had supposed to be the final peak is nothing but the first step in a very long climb."

"The years, of which I have spoken to you, when I pursued the inner images, were the most important time of my life. Everything else is to be derived from this. It began at that time, and the later details hardly matter anymore. My entire life consisted in elaborating what had burst forth from the unconscious and flooded me like an enigmatic stream and threatened to break me. That was the stuff and material for more than only one life. Everything later was merely the outer classification, the scientific elaboration, and the integration into life. But the numinous beginning, which contained everything, was then."

"The psychological rule says that when an inner situation is not made conscious, it happens outside, as fate.

That is to say, when the individual remains undivided and does not become conscious of his inner opposite, the world must perforce act out the conflict and be torn into opposing halves."

"To the extent that the Christianity of this time lacks madness, it lacks divine life. Take note of what the ancients taught us in images: madness is divine."

"The essence of a work of art is not to be found in the personal idiosyncrasies that creep into it—indeed, the more there are of them, the less it is a work of art—but in its rising above the personal and speaking from the mind and heart of the artist to the mind and heart of mankind."

“People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls.”

Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol, morphine or idealism.

"No nation keeps its word. A nation is a big, blind worm, following what? Fate perhaps. A nation has no honour, it has no word to keep."

“It is often tragic to see how blatantly a man bungles his own life and the lives of others yet remains totally incapable of seeing how much the whole tragedy originates in himself, and how he continually feeds it and keeps it going.”

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves.

Nobody, as long as he moves about among the chaotic currents of life, is without trouble.

The healthy man does not torture others – generally it is the tortured who turn into torturers.

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no recipe for living that suits all cases.

As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.

There can be no transforming of darkness into light and of apathy into movement without emotions.

A man who has not passed through the inferno of his passions has never overcome them.

In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.

It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves.

Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.

No one can flatter himself that he is immune to the spirit of his own epoch, or even that he possesses a full understanding of it. Irrespective of our conscious convictions, each one of us, without exception, being a particle of the general mass, is somewhere attached to, colored by, or even undermined by the spirit which goes through the mass. Freedom stretches only as far as the limits of our consciousness."

The pendulum of the mind alternates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong.

There is no coming to consciousness without pain.

We cannot change anything until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.
“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”

“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.”

“The greatest tragedy of the family is the unlived lives of the parents.”

“If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves.”

“An understanding heart is everything in a teacher, and cannot be esteemed highly enough. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.”

Who has fully realized that history is not contained in thick books but lives in our very blood?
“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.”

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”

“As a child I felt myself to be alone, and I am still, because I know things and must hint at things which others apparently know nothing of, and for the most part do not want to know.”

“Where wisdom reigns, there is no conflict between thinking and feeling.”

“The best political, social, and spiritual work we can do is to withdraw the projection of our shadow onto others.”

“Wholeness is not achieved by cutting off a portion of one’s being, but by integration of the contraries.”

"The unconscious is not just evil by nature, it is also the source of the highest good: not only dark but also light, not only bestial, semihuman, and demonic but superhuman, spiritual, and, in the classical sense of the word, ‘divine.’"

"Even if the whole world were to fall to pieces, the unity of the psyche would never be shattered. And the wider and more numerous the fissures on the surface, the more the unity is strengthened in the depths."

“The acceptance of oneself is the essence of the whole moral problem and the epitome of a whole outlook on life. That I feed the hungry, that I forgive an insult, that I love my enemy in the name of Christ — all these are undoubtedly great virtues. What I do unto the least of my brethren, that I do unto Christ. But what if I should discover that the least among them all, the poorest of all the beggars, the most impudent of all the offenders, the very enemy himself — that these are within me, and that I myself stand in need of the alms of my own kindness — that I myself am the enemy who must be loved — what then? As a rule, the Christian’s attitude is then reversed; there is no longer any question of love or long-suffering; we say to the brother within us "Raca," and condemn and rage against ourselves. We hide it from the world; we refuse to admit ever having met this least among the lowly in ourselves.”

"It is astounding that man, the instigator, inventor and vehicle of all these developments, the originator of all judgements and decisions and the planner of the future, must make himself such a quantité negligeable."

"We should not pretend to understand the world only by the intellect; we apprehend it just as much by feeling. Therefore, the judgment of the intellect is, at best, only the half of truth, and must, if it be honest, also come to an understanding of its inadequacy."

"Our blight is ideologies — they are the long-expected Antichrist!"

Natural Remedy for Bipolar and Depression

www.youtube.com www.encognitive.com There is a vast amount of data from traditional psychiatry, that opines Bipolar Disorder to be a genetic disorder, but that doesn’t explain what causes it. The inability to break down Norepinephrine due to a deficiency in an enzyme called COMT is one objective finding I have found useful in explaining to patients why they behave or react certain ways. (And this one is a genetic find) Pfeiffer reported that those who have daily or day-to-day mood swings have food allergies or hypoglycemia. In addition, he said they are pyroluric and are easily treated with adequate doses of B6 and Zinc. (do you know about pyroluria?) Pfeiffer recommends 1. Adequate B6 for dream recall (NTE 2gms qd) 2. Zinc (as gluconate) 30mg am &pm 3. Manganese (as gluconate) 10mg am &pm 4. if B6 produces numbness in extremities. Shift to pyridoxal phosphate at 1 dose of normal B6 I found it interesting that I have been trained in traditional psychiatry to medicate manic-depressives. Personally, I find this dreadful, as I think we lose a lot of great minds and creations when we do. Just think of all the historical geniuses who would fit the bipolar mold, and if they were living today, they would be medicated out of creating. (Not to offend anyone, but this would probably also include Jesus Christ, as he would certainly fit the bill for a Bipolar Psychotic, by today’s standards, just think about it). And all the actors, and others today who are strange and bizarre, well

Q&A: What is the purpose behind some “spiritual” leaders providing a “homeless” exercise?

Question by E!: What is the purpose behind some “spiritual” leaders providing a “homeless” exercise?
Why do some “spiritual” leaders often resort to having their followers, devotees, fans, grupies, etc. perform an excercise of them pretending to be homeless? Do these spiritual leaders believe that their followers need to experience hardship and/or become more humble in order to understand the world better?

It seems like it’s become cliche for spiritual leaders to ask their retreat groups to participate in an excercise such as this.

Do you think such a “being homeless” excercise is helpful?

Best answer:

Answer by jay
well, ive never done that, but yes, people do that to humble themselves, to see what its like to have nothing, to build thanks for what we have, there are numerous reasons. its very helpful, and it strengthens people in their faith in god. more churches should practice this.

Invest Park Funds in Park Poor and Income Poor Communities
healthy eating government guidelines

A diverse and growing alliance supports the distribution of park funds to achieve healthy, livable communties for all the people of California. We look forward to working with the California Department of Parks and Recreation to ensure that park funds reach the most park poor and economically poor communities through the proposed guidelines, the implementation of AB 31, and compliance with equal justice laws. This will fulfill the intent of the legislation and meet the needs of the voters who have passed park resource bonds for the past ten years.

Park funds should be allocated based on need not greed. Under a standard that targets communities with the greatest need first, park projects should receive top priority based on park poverty and economic poverty combined. Park poverty is less than three acres of parks per thousand residents, under the draft guidelines. Economic poverty is under ,959 median household income. Prioritizing park poverty and economic poverty combined will help achieve equal justice in access to public resources for the most underserved communities, based on race, ethnicity, and income under civil rights and environmental justice laws. People of color and low income people throughout California disproportionately suffer from unfair disparities in access to park, school, and health resources, and suffer disproportionately from child obesity and other diseases related to the lack of places for physical activity and healthy eating. Investments in parks and schools in the most underserved communities are an important part of any green economic stimulus, public works and infrastructure program. Map 2001 shows the communities that are park poor and economically poor, and are disproportionately populated by people of color, in the hatched red hot spots. Using park poverty alone without economic poverty will not accomplish these important public policy goals of improving the quality of life, health, and environment for the most underserved communities.

The guidelines should provide as follows: (1) Projects in communities that are both park poor and economically poor should receive top priority over other projects. (2) Human health including obesity and diabetes levels should be a significant factor in determining “Community Challenges and Project Benefits,” “Challenges,” and “Youth at High Risk,” and projects addressing health should receive significant priority. (3) Projects should receive significant priority for joint use of park and school facilities. (4) The guidelines should explicitly call for compliance with state and federal civil rights laws guaranteeing equal access to public resources, not just the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). See Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its regulations, the President’s Order on Environmental Justice, California Government Code 11135 and its regulations, and the California statutory definition of environmental justice, Government Code 65040.12. (5) The guidelines should implement principles of equitable development: invest in people, invest in stronger communities, invest in the open, invest in justice.

We have an important opportunity to define and implement standards for equity to measure progress and hold officials accountable and to transform California into a more livable, democratic, and just place to live and raise children. We look forward to working with the Department of Parks and Recreation to meet these goals.

Creighton University to Offer Webinar on the Ethics of End-Of-Life Care

Omaha, NE (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

As part of its ongoing series of webinars on hot topics in the bioethics field, Creighton University will host a complimentary webinar titled ?No Place for Dying: Hospitals and the Ideology of Rescue.? The webinar will be presented by Helen Stanton Chapple, PhD, RN, MA, CT, a Creighton faculty member who teaches in the online Master of Science in Health Care Ethics program. Chapple is also a past president of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) and current chair of the ADEC Credentialing Council.

Chapple will discuss the idea that many end-of-life dilemmas in the United States are a result of conflicts in American ideology rather than a question of ethics. In addition, the proliferation of advanced technology, the respect for choice, and the need to provide equal opportunity for death avoidance has led to a ?rescue first, ask questions later? mentality. Yet often there comes a point where clinicians must work to limit suffering and prepare for death. In her research on treatment for the dying, Chapple discovered that clinicians turned to a ?ritual of intensification? that allowed seriously ill patients to be moved from ?rescuable? to ?non-rescuable? status. This process helped medical professionals to navigate potential conflicts and guilt.

?The ritual preserves belief in the project of medicine,? said Chapple. ?Clinicians use ritual to separate the living from the dying, and ultimately the dying from ourselves.?

Date, time, and registration information for the webinar are as follows:

Offered through Creighton?s Center for Health Policy and Ethics (CHPE), the program is built upon the University’s core Catholic and Jesuit values of conscience, compassion, and concern for poor and marginalized groups and individuals.

what are some natural remedies for ADD? Or just something i can buy at the store to help concentration?

Question by serrsly: what are some natural remedies for ADD? Or just something i can buy at the store to help concentration?
i need to improve my concentration and alertness.

like to do well in school, and reading.
not caffeine, that stuff makes me crazy.
thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by oldtimekid
Well, unfortunately, nobody knows what causes ADD or ADHD… and since natural supplements really help to nourish your body and help with whatever deficiency is causing a certain problem, it’s impossible to say “this will cure ADD”. However, there are several natural products that help with brain health and things along that line.

You can try Ginkgo Biloba, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Phosphatidylserine, Fish Oil, Vinpocetine, Huperzine A, Bacopa Monnieri (or Monniera), or Alpha-GPC. Those are the most popular products for memory and brain support that help a LOT of different people.

Aside from pills, you can always do mental exercises, too. Playing games (like the children’s game “Memory”) or using memory tricks (mnemonic devices, etc) can also help to work the pathways in your brain that are responsible for memory or concentration. It may take some time to get it straightened out, but once you do, you will be able to overcome all sorts of things. Good luck!
